HOW
TO ORDER
In order to meet your curved glass needs Danny's
Glass needs to know three things about your
custom glass order.
|
We
will need to know:
- The radius of the curvature,
usually from a pattern you make or you may
use our Curved Glass Radius Chart for your
convience
- The width (girth) of your
glass around the outside edge of the curve
- The height or length of
the piece of glass
It is important to note that radius
and width are NOT the same thing. The
radius is the curvature and width has to do
with the size of the glass. |
 |
Terms you need to
know:
- Radius - The distance from
the center of a circle to the arc of the circle
or the amount of curvature.
- Width or Girth - The distance
around the curve, also known as arc length.
- Length or Height - The
distance perpendicular to the curvature.
- Chord - The distance straight
across the back.
|

This is the proper dimension for the width.
|

This dimension is the chord length, not the width.

IMPORTANT
NOTICE: WHEN PRINTING THE RADIUS TEMPLATE ABOVE
PLEASE BE SURE THAT YOUR PRINTER SETTINGS ARE
AT 100% AND DO NOT SELECT "PRINT TO FIT
PAGE" SETTING.
Instructions:
-
Read ALL the information carefully.
It is important to be as accurate as you
can.
-
Determine the radius of your glass.
For your convience CLICK
HERE and print out the Curved
Glass Radius Template and use it
to determine the radius of your curved glass.
Match your glass sample to the bend printed
on the chart which is the closest match
to the radius of your glass. If the bend
is wider than the chart, check the full
width of the bend with the chart to make
sure it is a regular radius, if not then
you will need to send a full size template
to serve as a pattern. It is very important
that you be very accurate.
How to make a template: If you are fortunate enough to have a complete
top or bottom end piece, you will simply
need to place the glass on a piece of poster
board (please no corrugated cardboard or
paper) and carefully trace around the curve
of the glass on both sides. If your template
is not full width, write "Pattern
Not Correct Width" on your
template, and also tell us the width you
need measured with a flat tape around the
curve. (See diagram above.) Otherwise, we
will cut your glass to your template width.
It is very important that you be very accurate. If the pattern is incorrect, we
will not be able to produce the exact piece
of glass you will need to complete your
restoration.
How to make a template without
an existing piece of glass: If
you do not have an existing piece of glass
to trace around, then a template will need
to be created that accurately represents
the opening of the cabinet. Use poster board
to slide into the curve opening on the cabinet
and trace the curve. Next cut the curve
out, place the poster board on the inside
of the china cabinet and check the fit.
Continue tracing and cutting until the front
curve of the poster board fits the curve
of the cabinet tightly. It is important
that the template cover the complete opening,
remembering to allow room for the glass
to slip in and out. It is very important
that you be very accurate. If the
pattern is incorrect, we will not be able
to produce the exact piece of glass you
will need to complete your restoration.
-
Determine the height you need. Next measure the height of the
opening for the glass; remembering to leave
clearance for the glass to slip in and out.
It is very important that you be very accurate. If the measurement is incorrect,
we will not be able to produce the exact
piece of glass you will need to complete
your restoration.
- Send us your order. CLICK
HERE to request a quote for your curved glass. We will need the height,
width, and radius of the glass. Or if you
like, simply mail us the measurements along
with an original pattern or template (not
a xerox copy or fax) of the true curve. Be
sure to include your name, street address,
and telephone number. We need your street
address for UPS delivery. Include your purchase
order or business card.
